The liver - our mother

The liver's ability to eliminate toxins requires the ability to differentiate and evaluation, otherwise detoxification will not work.

Caring for the liver

Natural sources provide effective substances, notably resveratrol and curcumin. Both are individually highly effective and possess anti-inflammatory properties. When combined, their effects are significantly amplified.

This enables you to effectively protect yourself from various environmental toxins and to suppress the activation of inflammatory centers caused by NF-κB. (NF-κB plays a crucial role in regulating the immune response, cell proliferation, and cell death. Its activation is considered a key factor in the development of inflammation.)

Our gut — partner and friend of the liver

Although official figures suggest that gluten intolerance affects about 1-2%, some experts estimate the actual prevalence to be around 75%. Unconscious gluten consumption can cause latent inflammation of the intestinal mucosa and destabilize the gut flora, potentially leading to leaky gut syndrome. Stool analyses measuring alpha-1-antitrypsin, calprotectin, and zonulin can assist in diagnosis.

Our intestines can support the liver, provided they are healthy. Diet plays a crucial role, as many foods are high in short-chain carbohydrates, and industrially processed products are often nutrient-deficient.

Maintaining stable gut health is essential for managing various diseases, since ongoing inflammation can increase, potentially leading to weight gain, depression, chronic pain, anxiety, and sleep disorders.

Bile acids flow properly only when the person is relaxed

Anger, resentment, and stress can cause bile acids produced in the liver to accumulate. When bile does not flow adequately, essential processes such as fat digestion, cholesterol metabolism, intestinal peristalsis, lipase activation, sodium and water secretion in the large intestine, and the transport of bilirubin and other toxins are compromised.

Therefore, the first step is clarification. It is unhelpful to invest energy in resistance. Healing requires honesty. An important clarifying plant is lavender, which can have a very supportive effect when used as a mother tincture. A heartfelt conversation with a friend can also be balm for the soul. Making decisions is essential.

Naturopathy supports a healthy liver

Just a few days of intensive support and gentle treatment of the liver can provide significant relief and positively impact both physical and mental well-being. Gradually, the affected person can regain their ability to detoxify and regulate effectively.

I advise my patients not only to adopt a healthier lifestyle but also to start this change with a short break, helping them stay committed to their resolutions in the long term.

In naturopathy, detoxification is approached holistically and tailored individually to each patient.

A comprehensive liver detoxification may include various draining and regulating measures such as colon hydrotherapy, neural therapy, ear acupuncture, and high-quality infusions with vitamins, trace elements, and homeopathic complex remedies.

These measures aim to stimulate metabolism and support liver function.

People have a responsibility: a healthy lifestyle is necessary

Our body demonstrates remarkable resilience on a daily basis, often under the motto “It's annoying, but okay.” Stress and electrosmog (WLAN, mobile phones, power grids) act as accelerants. When stress exceeds the body's tolerance, food and toxins can trigger inflammation centers. Nevertheless, our body has an impressive ability to regenerate.

We should regularly give our body a break and support it, as it is our constant companion and enables us to realize our wishes and desires. A healthy organism is essential for shaping our lives. Let's provide it with what it needs, especially when sleep deprivation, anger over small things, or evening worries increase.

How can we support our liver?

Inner joy and contentment enable us to act in a relaxed and focused manner. The liver reacts sensitively to excess; the principle of moderation is crucial. This is an important aspect: moderation! Paracelsus taught us that "the dose makes the poison." In addition to alcohol and nicotine, overconsumption of fats, carbohydrates, and sugar also damages the liver.

Fortunately, there are foods that support liver health. Bitter substances stimulate bile flow and fat metabolism, which helps the liver function properly.

The following are also recommended: garlic, broccoli, radishes, artichokes, lemons, apricots, ginger, walnuts, Brazil nuts, green tea (considered detoxifying), linseed oil, milk thistle, and turmeric. All these help significantly support the liver's ability to regenerate and detoxify.

Don't underestimate the importance of daily exercise. Make time for it and take advantage of the small moments that add up throughout the day.

For example, choose the parking lot furthest from your destination, use the 24-hour gym in your building (such as the stairwell), or get off the bus or tram 1-2 stops earlier on your way home so you can get some exercise behind your desk that day.

When the coffee machine is running, do 20 squats or press-ups. The possibilities are endless—let your imagination run free! Remember, DO is the key word!

And last but not least, don't forget: water. Ensure you drink enough clear, good-quality still water. Only then can it flow properly, be absorbed, transported away, and provide nourishment. Water is often called God's remedy.

FAQ's

Why is the liver so important for our body?

The liver, one of the most important organs in the body, filters the blood, eliminates harmful microorganisms and controls the growth of body cells. It aids digestion by producing bile and stores nutrients while regulating blood sugar levels. A healthy liver is therefore crucial for our general well-being.

Which symptoms indicate liver problems?

Signs of possible liver problems can include jaundice, tiredness, loss of appetite, abdominal pain and dark urine. However, it is often not noticed until later that something is wrong, as many liver diseases do not show any symptoms at first. Regular examinations are important to detect potential problems at an early stage.

What can I do for my liver myself?

Make sure you eat a balanced diet rich in fruit, vegetables, wholegrain products and lean protein. Regular physical activity will help you avoid obesity and reduce the risk of fatty liver disease. Also drink plenty of water to keep your body well hydrated and support your liver.
